About FOSS Center of Excellence
Zeal college of Engineering and Research has established Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) Center of Excellence in association with Spoken Tutorials by IIT Bombay. The primary motive in establishing FOSS Center of Excellence is to promote use of open source software among students and faculty members to enrich them with FOSS skills as per present industry trend. Other objective of the FOSS project is to reduce the use of proprietary/commercial software packages in Engineering Education and replace them with FOSS tools. Also FOSS Center of Excellence ensures that undergraduate students of Computer Engineering and Information Technology to be equipped with FOSS skills to meet current software Industry requirements.
Association Spoken Tutorials IIT Bombay
FOSS Center of Excellence is established in association with Spoken Tutorials IIT Bombay. The Spoken Tutorials Project is about teaching and learning a particular FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) via an easy Video tool – Spoken Tutorials and also to encourage the use of FOSS tools through various activities to ensure commercial software is replaced by equivalent FOSS tools. The Spoken Tutorial project is the initiative of the ‘Talk to a Teacher’ activity of the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (ICT), launched by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India. The Spoken Tutorials project is being developed by IIT Bombay for MHRD, Government of India. Completion Certificates will be provided for the participants who will clear the Test after participating video lecture sessions.

- Conducting Examination for Spoken Tutorials, IIT Bombay.
- Fetching grants for enhancing existing FOSS tools.
