The Centre is established to impart the measurement and quality control skills amongst the students. The centre is temperature controlled as per NABL norms. The centre is equipped with five inspection tables with standard illuminations, sorting bins and working trays. Students and faculty members can use this facility for all their needs in Metrology & Quality control to pursue final year project or PG/ PhD research work. The centre is having calibrated instruments to take up industrial consultancy.
The layout of the centre enables comfortable use of available resources for batch of 20 students. Informative charts are displayed for easy access to the users.
Features of the Centre
- To avail standard reference surface, 2 tonn granite surface plate is available in the centre, which has size of 200cm X 100cm X 20cm.
- Mitutoyo’s Surface Roughness tester is the most valuable and costly instrument in the centre. Its accuracy is upto 0.1 micron. Which measures around 28 number of roughness patterns. And roughness profile can be recorded on screen, hence student can observe roughness profile.
- Centre have 20 number of vernier calipers. So each student can handle in practical period. Special attraction is vernier caliper for measurement upto 1meter is also available for large size workpiece measurement.
- 3 vernier height gauges are available in the centre. Which can measure height upto 60cm.
- All linear and angular measuring instruments are calibrated.
- Sample job are made available for inspection purpose and students are suppose to find defective samples from a lot.
- Most of the instruments are analog type. Which are purposefully made available for better understanding of construction and to enhance reading skills of students.
- All instruments are available in set of 5 to give better availability
