A One Day Hands on Training on “CATIA V5 Essentials in Mechanical Engineering” Organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering (Shift II) In Association with CORE CADD SOLUTIONS, Pune on 22nd July 2016. Expert, Mr. Sajid Khadas, Engineer-Core Cadd Solutions, who is having real time experience in modeling, worked as onsite deputation Engineer with Global team projects were contributor with significant responsibilities and ownership in designing or engineering the components for Aerospace, Power & water & Automotive industries have been invited as resource person.
The Program was started with formal inauguration addressing the participants by the Prof. Shevale S.S. and HOD of Mechanical Engineering Dr. Kate A.M. Overview of the program and introduction of the Expert from Core Cadd Solutions, Pune was given by Prof. Shevale S.S., Program Coordinator.
Total 35 students were attended CATIA V5 program. The workshop was arranged in two sessions of 2 ½ Hrs each. In the first session was Introduction, Parametric Sketching, Parametric solid modeling, Advance solid modeling tools and Introduction of Surface were discussed. The second session of the workshop was devoted to the practicals on CATIA V5.
The program was interactive and the students are very well technically benefitted from the training. Many real time case studies were discussed and few assignments are given to participants to provide the solutions during the program.
Objective of FDP: At the end of the training the participants will have: Understanding of CATIA VS interface and application of commands for the following modules Sketcher, Part Design, Assembly Design & Drafting.

- Basic Sketch Based Features
- Basic Dressing-Up Features
- Part Design Transformations
- Part Design Modifications
Assembly Design
- Create a new product and add components.
- Move components within a product by positioning them with assembly
- Modify an existing product structure.
- Design new parts in context of the product.
- Perform interference checking and measurements.
Surface Design
- Introduction to Generative Shape Design
- Wireframe Creation
Drafting
Introduction to drafting workbench.
End of Training Valedictory was held where feedback from the students was collected and it is observed that the program outlook is satisfactory and the participants expressed that they require similar type of programs in the future.
