The Mechanical Department of ZCOER, in collaboration with CADPOINT Kothrud, successfully organized a five-day training program on UG-NX (CAD) for Second-Year (SE) Mechanical Engineering students. This initiative aimed to enhance students’ CAD skills, aligning with industry standards and supporting their academic curriculum.
Purpose and Importance:
The training program was linked to the Project-Based Learning (PBL) activity as per the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) syllabus. This integration ensures students gain practical exposure and earn the allotted 50 marks in the PBL assessment.
Student Participation and Program Selection:
Participation in the training was mandatory. Students were given the option to choose from three programs:
- UG-NX (CAD)
- Python Programming
- Two Wheeler Servicing
Students submitted their preferences through a Google Form by the deadline: 30th December 2024, at 4:00 PM. Based on their choices, the majority opted for UG-NX (CAD), which highlights its relevance and appeal.
Training Schedule and Fees:
- Duration: 1st January to 6th January 2025 (excluding Sundays).
- Fees: A nominal fee of ₹500/- per student was charged, ensuring affordability while maintaining program quality.
Key Features of the Training:
- Hands-On Learning: The training emphasized practical sessions to build CAD proficiency.
- Regular Assessments: Daily evaluations were conducted to track students’ understanding and progress.
- Expert Guidance: The sessions were conducted by experienced trainers from CADPOINT Kothrud, ensuring quality and industry-relevant instruction.
Outcome and Evaluation:
- Skill Development: Students gained hands-on experience with UG-NX, enabling them to apply these skills to their academic projects and future career opportunities.
- Assessment and Grading: Performance during the training was assessed through periodic evaluations, and grades will be included in the final PBL report.
Feedback and Observations:
- Students appreciated the structured approach and real-world relevance of the training.
- The collaboration with CADPOINT was highly effective in delivering quality content.
- Suggestions for future programs include extending the duration for advanced learning and exploring additional software tools.
