The Department of Mechanical Engg., ZCOER have organised Lecture Session on ‘Opportunities in Welding Technologies’ by Dr Gauranga Datta (Ex Chancellor, KL University) On 20th February, 2016. This Lecture was result of the constant encouragement and support of our dynamic Executive Director, Prof. Jayesh Katkar. ‘Ador Welding Academy, Pune’, was co-organiser for the same.
Dr. Gauranga Datta
Professor Gauranga Lal Datta has been a distinguished academician. He received B Tech (Mech Engg), M Tech (Foundry Engg) and Ph D (Welding Technology) degrees from IIT Kharagpur. He served the alma mater for close to four decades in different teaching and administrative positions including Professor, Head and Dean. After this, he continued to serve the Institute as an Emeritus Professor. Then he moved to KL University, Andhra Pradesh as the Founder Vice-Chancellor in 2009, served the same University as the Chancellor from 2012-14.
Lecture Contents:
During this lecture Dr. Gauranga Datta spoke about History of Welding and Various Welding Technologies. Welding offers enormous amount of opportunities in the field of fabrication of Structures, Process Plants, Road and Transport, Delicate and Precise Aerospace Applications,etc. The budding engineers can enhance their skill in this field and explore the opportunities. The opportunities are available as an employee and entrepreneur. Also the welding experts are in high demand in India and abroad.
The session was very informative. It was conducted in an interactive mode. The participating students and faculties of Mechanical Department got benefitted by the same. The lecture was concluded with Question-Answer Session. Dr G. L. Datta spontaneously responded to the questions of curious students.
Skill Training At AdorWac (Ador Welding Academy):
Ador Welding Academy , Pune provides an architecture and layout for the premises; Equipment, accessories & consumables for delivering the welding practice courses; Class-room facilities; Training Modules duly documented for course content, Instructional design & pedagogic techniques, including assessment and certification methodologies. Specific modules for Training the Trainers are also delivered.
The lecture began with felicitation of Dr G. L. Datta and Mr Harshal Borole, AdorWac by the Prof Jayesh Katkar, Executive Director and Dr A. N. Gaikwad, Principal ZCOER respectively. Prof Jayesh Katkar enlightened the audience with his vision and motto behind organising such lectures on ‘Zeal Campus’.
Prof A. R. Suryavanshi, HOD Mechanical – Shift I, Prof. B. D. Aldar, HOD Mechanical – Shift II, Prof. A. U. Gandigude, Workshop Superintendant, UG / PG Students and Faculty members of Mechanical Department have participated in this session. Prof. J. K. Shaikh Co-ordinated the programme and Prof A. U. Gandigude delivered Vote of Thanks.
