The industrial visit to Solar Basket Pvt. Ltd; Dhayari Pune, located in Chavan Industrial Estate, Dhayari Pune. and supported by Department of Science and Technology, Gov. of India, was organized by the Mechanical Engineering of Zeal College of Engineering and Research Narhe, Pune.411041 on 23/10/2024 for the subject of Mechatronics to the TE Mech. Students. The primary objective was to provide students with real-world exposure to industrial processes and practices, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. This report highlights the visit, processes observed, and key learnings.
1. Details of the Visit
The visit began with a warm welcome by Director, who introduced us to the company and its operations. The visit included the following sections:
1.1. Introduction Session
In this session, the company’s representatives provided an overview of the company’s operations, explaining how the company functions in different sectors like Manufacturing sector, Assembly section, 3D printing, Special Trunkey Projects in automation and the technology stack they use.
1.2. Tour of the Facilities
We toured the various departments, including:
- Manufacturing Unit: We observed Electronic assembly unit, processes, and operations seen.
Quality Control - Department: The team demonstrated how product quality checks observed.
Research and - Development (R&D): The R&D team showcased Solar dryers, Control panels of large machines in automation, innovation, design, or development processes.
The company uses lean manufacturing and Just In Time in their daily operations, and we learned about their importance in automation industry
2. Key Learnings and Observations
- Process Understanding: We observed assembly line processes such as manufacturing, quality control, testing, Rapid Prototyping etc. and how they implement Mechatronics engineering principles.
- Industry Standards: The Company adheres to ISO 9001-2015 to maintain quality and safety.
- Technology in Practice: Technologies like rapid Prototyping; solar advance techniques like Solar Trees were extensively used in various departments.
- Problem-Solving Approach: The staff explained how they handle bottlenecks in the day-to-day functioning of the company.
3. Interaction with Industry Experts
During the visit, we had the opportunity to interact with professionals from different departments, such as Assembly, R&D. They shared their experiences and provided valuable insights into career paths, skillsets, and industry expectations.

The industrial visit to Solar Basket Pvt. Ltd; was an informative and enlightening experience. It gave us a practical perspective on how various engineering concepts are applied in the real world. The visit strengthened our understanding of Mechatronics and automation motivated us to pursue careers in Mechatronics.
