A visit to any process industry is an integral part of curriculum of SPPU for the subject of Turbomachine of BE Mechanical students. So as to study and understand the overall working of a pumping station a visit to “PMC water supply department Pulgate Pune”. A total of 20 students along with 2 faculty members were planned to visit the industry on 7th Oct. 2024 at 9.00 am.
One group of students were formed to visit the location and the groups were coordinated by the experts of PMC authority. This was a very good opportunity for the students to interact with the experts to understand how the pumping station work. The students got some practical approach of pump about its function. As per the curriculum of the Turbomachine it includes the working of Centrifugal Pump. The students had practically seen and understand how the Pump works and its use in various applications. Total 20 students were present for the industrial visit.
This industrial visit was very useful for the students and teachers from knowledge point of view. The details of Outcomes of visit are as follows.
- Understand the working of Pumping Station.
- Understand the concept of head in pump and its working.
- Understand the various safety requirements during working at the pumping station.
- Understand the use of various types of pumps.
