Inauguration of Indian Geotechnical Society’s Student Chapter in Zeal College of Engineering and Research, Pune, was scheduled and inaugurated on 26th Feb 2022. This is the 16 th Student chapter under the IGS Pune Chapter. IGS Chairman Er. Vikas Patil, IGS Secretary Prof. Suman Jain, Joint Secretary Mrs. Annapoorni Iyer of Pune Chapter as Guests for the Inauguration. The session began with a welcome address by Prof. A. K. Ingale. Brief Introduction about IGS and Importance of student chapter was given by the Faculty Coordinator Prof. S. M. Mali. Address by the Head of Department of Civil was given by Dr. G. S. Anaokar followed by the address of the In-charge Principal by Dr. S. D. Shirbahadurkar. Joint Secretary IGS Pune Chapter, Prof. Purnanand Savoikar was the speaker for the event.

He has shared his views on the topic Geotechnical properties of laterites and problems associated’. Many of students, academician, Engineers and consultants participated in the event. There was an overwhelming response for the event with more than 148 participants. The event was attended by IGS President Prof. N. K. Samadhiya, Executive committee member Dr. A. P. Singh, Dr. Kumar Pitchumani from IGS Chennai Chapter, Prof Murthy from IGS Mumbai and many other notable personalities.
