A visit to any process industry is an integral part of curriculum of SPPU for the subject of engineering thermodynamics of SE Mechanical students. So as to study and understand the overall working of a pumping station a visit to “Katraj Dairy, Pune – Satara Road,Opp. Rajiv Gandhi Udyan, Katraj, Pune – 411046” A total of 120 students along with 4 faculty members were planned to visit the industry on 13th Nov.. 2024 at 9.00 am.

One group of students was formed to visit the location and the groups were coordinated by the experts of Dairy authority. This was a very good opportunity for the students to interact with the experts to understand how the overall plant works. The students got some practical approach of boiler about its function. As per the curriculum of the Engineering Thermodynamics it includes the working of cooling tower and compressor. The students had practically seen and understand how the Boiler works and its use in various applications. Total 105 students were present for the industrial visit.

This industrial visit was very useful for the students and teachers from knowledge point of view. The details of Outcomes of visit are as follows.

1) Understand the working of overall plant.
2) Understand the concept of Boiler working.
3) Understand the various safety requirements during working at the dairy.
4) Understand the use of various types’ boilers.
