Special students guidance program on industry expectations was conducted by Department of Mechanical Engineering and Training & Placement Cell on 7th July, 2017.The Vice President Operations, Mr. Kanhaiyya Gorane from Alfa Laval Inc. Richmond, Virginia was invited for this programme. The program started with the introduction of the chief guest and his journey from mechanical engineering student to Vice President Operations of Alfa Laval Inc Richmond, Virginia.
The program was attended by third year and final year mechanical engineering students. The main objective of the program was to provide a platform, where students and industry persons interact to know the expectation of each other.
Mr. Kanhaiyya highlighted the importance of interpersonal skills, application of knowledge, time management and resource management in the growth of any industry. He also focused on the core issues such as technical skill, ability to analyze the real life problems, industry & its impact on the environment, etc.
After program, Mr. Kanhaiyya visited the campus specially T&P Cell, skill development center, MQC lab, automobile excellence center, 3D printer, Machining excellence center and Welding excellence center in mechanical engineering department. He appreciated the efforts of the department in bridging the industry institute gap.

Zeal Drag Race

On 30th March 2017 Zeal college of engineering and research narhe pune has inaugurated three day gokart racing event named as zeal drag. It was total technical car racing event in which 32 teams participated enthusiastically & near about 500 students from all over the India have taken part in the event. To this inaugural function MR. Satish Hirve Head Sourcing, Ashok Leyland was Chief Guest/ He addressed the gathering where he emphasized on the need to focus on practical knowledge.
After first qualifying round of virtuals, 32 teams were participated with indigenous manufactured vehicle from all over the India.
At 31st March 2017 the vehicles had undergone through various technical tests like Technical Inspection (TI), Design Inspection (DI), Braking Test etc. by various experts from industries like TCS, Precision Innovation students teams were critically evaluated based on their business planes and detail design requites as well.
At 1st April 2017 there was a main Drag racing event took place in that event Autocross and Skid pad tests were carried out and at the end of day valedictory function was conducted and prize distribution ceremony was presented.  In the prize distribution Dr. K. C Vora Head ARAI was the chief guest. During his speech he said India will be the third ranker in vehicle manufacturing hub and there will be 64 million vehicle users at 2030 so considering these figures we have to encourage such technical racing events. During the speech of Mr Jayesh katkar Executive director ZCOER announced the 2nd Season of Zeal Drag 2.0 the next year target and motivated students and also congratulated the winners.

MECHPGCON 2017, The Mechanical Engineering Post Graduate conference was held at “ZEAL COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING & RESEARCH, NARHE, PUNE on 20th and 21st June 2017. MECHPGCON 2017, is the third PG conference organized for Design, CADME and Mechatronics specializations in Mechanical Engineering. This conference was organized by Zeal college of Engineering & Research, Narhe, Pune in collaboration with the Board of Studies, Mechanical Engineering, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU).

The MECHPGCON- 2017 is an opportunity for all the post graduate students in mechanical engineering to showcase their project work. The conference aims for interaction of PG students with faculty members and industry experts for the empowerment of the PG students.

The inauguration of MECHPGCON 2017 was held on 20th June at Zeal college of engineering and research, Dr. A.D. Shaligram, Registrar, Savitribai Phule Pune University and Dr. S.E. Talole, Dean ( Technology) D.I.A.T, Pune were  the chief guests . Dr. P.J. Awasare, Ex-coordinator BOS SPPU, Prof. Jayesh Katkar (Executive Director, Zeal Education Society), Dr. Sanjay Deokar (Campus Director, Narhe Campus), Dr. Ajit Kate (Principal, ZCOER), Dr. Sunil Dambhare ( Conference Secretary) and Dr. Amol Ubale (Head Mechanical) were also present at the event.

During his address to the gathering Dr. A.D.Shaligram urged the PG students to be observant towards the surrounding, identify simple problems and find solutions through research. In this way the research work carried out by the students will not remain restricted to books instead it will be implemented in real life. Also Dr. S.E. Talole said that the need of the hour is the young innovators should focus on gaining over all knowledge instead of concentrating only on domain specific knowledge.
Prof. Jayesh Katkar, Executive director gave best wishes for the conference. Dr. Ajit Kate, Principal presented an overview of the progress of the institute. The comparing of the event was done by Prof. Harakare and Prof. Borade. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. S.G. Dambhare.

More than 800 post graduate students from all over Pune University participated in MECH PGCON2017. 200 expert academicians from Mechanical engineering and eminent personalities from the industries were the reviewers. Total 777 research papers were presented at the conference.

1st and 2nd Prize in Paper Presentation Competition

Sachin S Purohit & Mahesh M Mali from Second year Mechanical Engineering Won 1st and 2nd prize in Paper presentation for topic “Innovation in RAC”. They both participated in 2 events of paper presentation competition held at 2 different colleges. Frist prize in ‘CHEMTECH – 16’ organised by Sinhgad Institute in Jan 2016 cash prize of Rs – 5000. Second prize in ‘PAPER TOSS’ organised by Bharti Vidhyapeeth University on 19 Feb 2016cash prize of Rs -2000.

Success of ZCOER Student at Innovative Project Contest

The Innovative project contest was organized by Zee media. The project of ZCOER students was shortlisted for it.

The students Aaditya Bhavsar, Sudhir Chougule, Ketan Bhavsar, Pradip Borade under the guidance of Prof. Aashish Gandigude Presented their project “Domestic Bio-Mechanical Composter” in front of Zee media representatives. For this project the student conducted market research for the existing composters available in the market. The cost of which was in the range of 2500 to 3500. And the end users or customers complained regarding existing products. It was found that the costumer complained regarding various problems like odor, evaporation, corrosion, cost etc. And the students had solved all these issues with their innovative product almost in a cost of 350 INR.


SAE INDIA and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. jointly organized SUPRA 2017 (Formula racing event) for the students of Mechanical & Automobile Engineering, in which Zeal college of Engineering’s ‘Aghanya’ racing car received prestigious ‘Best Innovation Award.’ This event was held from 26th June to 1st July 2017 at Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, U.P.

            In national level formula racing event ‘SUPRA-2017’ total 129 racing teams participated from all over India. Among all the debutant teams which participated in this event, Zeal College of Engineering’s ‘Team Racing Pioneer’ was the only debutant team which qualified all the rounds and completed the event successfully. Among 129 racing teams which participated with cars having 390 cc & 600cc engine capacity, only 31 teams reached the final round. Among these 31 teams, Zeal College of Engineering’s-Team Racing Pioneer being the only debutant team competed with just 200cc engine and bagged the prestigious “Best Innovation Award.”

            “Aghanya” the racing car received a special appreciation from the FMSCI and the German judges for its light weight of mere 163 kgs and excellent design. Inspired from this award Team Racing Pioneer has made a resolution to win all the prizes in SUPRA-2018.

            Team racing Pioneer has been participating in SAE BAJA since 2014 & is one of the top 20 teams in India which has shown consistent growth.

            For this racing event, students we guided under the able guidance of Prof. Pravin Parit & Prof. Akshay Karande. Also Zeal Education society’s Executive Director Prof. Jayesh Katkar, Campus director Dr. Sanjay Deokar,  Principal Dr. Ajit Kate, Head of Mechanical Engineering Dr. Sunil Dambhare & Dr. Amol Ubale have always extended their  support and guidance to the students.
