40 Students of TE mechanical Engineering Visited Acrex India 2019, South Asia’s largest Exhibition on Air conditioning, Heating, Ventilation, and Intelligent Buildings on 1st march 2019 in Mumbai. Student got exposure to packaged chillers, Air handling and distribution products, Air conditions, Refrigeration accessories etc.

Students of Zeal college of engineering & research have won first prize in Mega ATV Championship held at goa. Team have won prizes in different categories including Drag Race, Solo Dirt Race, Flat Dirt race, Endurance night Race. total prize money in the said categories are about Rs. 210000

National Conference on Sustainable Developments in Mechanical Engineering (NCONSDME18)

Department of Mechanical Engineering from Zeal College of Engineering and Research organized 2 days national conference from 16th February 2018 to 17th February 2018.

Mr.Anil Gavade Vice President Business Development & Strategy (Aryan Pumps & Enviro Solutions Pvt. Limited, Narhegaon Pune) was the chief guest and Prof. Dr. Sanjay Deokar, Campus Director, Zeal Education Society was the guest of honour. Dr. S. D. Pohekar key note speaker of function was also present for the inaugural function.

Dr. C. L. Prabhune Convener of the conference has given the introduction about the conference, schedule of the program. During the inaugural function Mr. Anil Gavade enlightened the participants with the upcoming research and innovative ideas being worked out in the research institutes and industries. He has shared his experience in the field of sustainable development. Prof. Dr. Sanjay Deokar expressed his willingness to use this conference as platform for bridging the gap between recent practices in industry and academic curriculum. He told that the zeal campus will very soon, will be a green campus as college has installed 145kW capacity solar phovoltaic panels to generate self sufficient electric power. Dr. Prof. S. G. Dambhare, H.O.D Mechanical proposed the vote of thanks.

Key note Speaker, Dr. S. D. Pohekar ( Head research, Symbiosis International University, Lavale, Pune) delivered his speech on sustainable development, particularly on fuel cell development for automotives. How the fuel cell technology is useful in near future, he elaborated well. There was very good interaction among the participants with him during the session.

Post Lunch session was the paper presentation. There were four parallel tracks for conducting the paper presentation. For each track the session Chair and co-chair were invited from well known institutes and also from industries. Every one has evaluated the paper and gave the suggestions to the presenter. The participants had also taken it positively for their further improvement in the work. Mr. Avinash Chabukswar Director, C-Tech Engineers Pvt. Limited, Pune chaired the session. Dr. Pangavane D.R. and Dr. Sonawane S.A. from Govt. College of engineering Avasari chaired the session.

Next day on 17th Feb. also four parallel tracks for conducting the paper presentations were planned. Eminent personalities from various institutes were invited as session chair. They shared their thoughts with the participants and gave valuable suggestions for their research work. Dr. Atul Borade, Dr. Chaudhari Rajendra, Dr. Patange Gajanan, Dr. Abhay Pawar were few of them.

The participants had presented their innovative work, case studies, reviews and some industrial applications and social impacts through their papers. Overall the papers covered most of the areas of sustainable developments in the field of mechanical engineering. Students were benefitted by listing to the upcoming trends and expressed their willingness to explore these areas during their undergraduate, post graduate and Ph.D. research work. During the 2 days of workshop Prof. Ashutosh Mungle and Prof. Poonam Harakare coordinated all the sessions. This was first national conference organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering ZCOER Pune it was well received by all the stake holders as a successful event. All faculty members had put whole hearted efforts to make this conference a success.

National workshop on Solar Thermal and Electrical Application (A practical approach)

Department of Mechanical Engineering from Zeal College of Engineering and Research organized 2 days national workshop from 14th December 2018 to 15th December 2018.

Dr. Anil K. Rajvanshi Director, Nibkar Agricultural Research Institute (NARI) Baramati was the chief guest and Prof. Dr. Ajit Kate, Principal, Zeal College of Engineering and Research was the guest of honour.

Dr. C. L. Prabhune Convener of the workshop had given the introduction about the workshop, schedule of the program. During the inaugural function Mr. Anil K. Rajvanshi enlightened the participants with the upcoming research and innovative ideas being worked out in the research institutes and industries. He has shared his experience in the field of solar energy development. Prof. Dr. Ajit Kate expressed his willingness to use this workshop as platform for bridging the gap between recent practices in industry and academic curriculum. He told that the zeal campus is a green campus as college has installed 120 kW capacity solar phovoltaic panels to generate self sufficient electric power. Prof. Dr. Amol Ubale, H.O.D Mechanical proposed the vote of thanks.

Dr. Anil K. Rajvanshi Director, NARI Baramati delivered his speech on Romance of Innovation- Promises of Solar Energy, particularly on need to follow nature’s solar strategy for sustainable development. He elaborated on fossil fuel mentality, solar powered petal collector, solar energy for water production. He explained how happiness is created through innovation. Innovation is like yoga, to reach goal all roadblocks and pinpricks become inconsequential. He told about challenges in efficient absorber refrigerant pair needed, ice producing machine, efficient ice box etc. There was very good interaction among the participants with him during the session.

Post Lunch session was conducted by Dr. Abhijeet Auti Principal, G. S. Moze College of Engineering and Research, Pune.  He introduced about the solar thermal energy- resent advancement in solar collector technology. How to make design of parabolic trough collector, parabolic dish he nicely explained with case study. After tea break the Hands on Training session was organized. Dr. Omkar Wagh Director, Machinocraft, a channel partner of MNRE and MEDA, gave brief introduction about Solar PV system- Principles and Technology, about installation and maintenance of Solar rooftop, street light and water heater. He gave idea about general purpose toolbox, design considerations- latitude, sun angle, type of area- rooftop/ground mounted, shader analysis, solar pv module, inverter-DC/AC. Under his guidance and along-with his team all participants visited 120 kW on grid solar PV system which was installed in college campus. Right from module mounting structure, all components of the system, energy monitoring system was explained by them. The instruments like tool kit box, solar pyranometer, safety devices, G.I. structure was included in hands on training session.

Next day on 15th Dec. morning session was conducted by Dr. Kiran Deshpande followed by Dr. Pangavane, from Govt. College of Engineering Avasari. Dr. Kiran Deshpande at present working as Director School of Energy studies, SPPU, Pune has vast experience in solar field when he was working in Thermax Ltd. He shared his experience by taking case studies in his presentation. First he discussed about solar thermal and solar photovoltaic system- prospectus and challenges. Session was very interesting by referring the case studies like NTPC Ltd. Solar thermal hybrid system at Dadri, A bearing plant in Karnataka, Electric heating integration system at Nagpur, solar preheating of hybrid power plant etc.

Dr. Pangavane  had given the presentation on solar dryer- scope, development and opportunities in the field of drying system. Some case studies and research areas in solar drying system he elaborated which was very useful for participants to do the research in renewable energy.

The post lunch session was conducted by Jayandra Wadhonkar, Manager Maharashtra Energy Development Agencies (MEDA), India, Pune about energy policy framework. The program ended with the distribution of certificates to the participants. Participants as well as students were benefitted by listing to the upcoming trends and expressed their willingness to explore these areas during their undergraduate, post graduate and Ph.D. research work. During the 2 days of workshop Prof. Mahadik       and Prof. Jayashri Tambe coordinated all the sessions. This was first national workshop organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering ZCOER Pune it was well received by all the stake holders as a successful event. All faculty members had put whole hearted efforts to make this workshop a success.

short term training programme on fluid mechanics

The short term training programme on fluid mechanics was organized by department of mechanical engineering from 11th to 15th December 2017.
The inauguration function of the programme was conducted on 11th December in the morning session in the presence of the Principal Dr. A M. Kate. Dr, Arup Kumar Das from IIT Roorkee was the chief guest for the function. Dr. S. G. Dambhare HOD Mechanical gave the brief idea about the programme and welcomes the chief guest as well as the participants, who came from various institutes. There was overwhelming response for the programme. The vote of thanks proposed by Dr. A. B. Ubale, Coordinator of STTP.

SPECIAL STUDENTS GUIDANCE PROGRAM ON INDUSTRY EXPECTATIONS

Special students guidance program on industry expectations was conducted by Department of Mechanical Engineering and Training & Placement Cell on 7th July, 2017.The Vice President Operations, Mr. Kanhaiyya Gorane from Alfa Laval Inc. Richmond, Virginia was invited for this programme. The program started with the introduction of the chief guest and his journey from mechanical engineering student to Vice President Operations of Alfa Laval Inc Richmond, Virginia.
The program was attended by third year and final year mechanical engineering students. The main objective of the program was to provide a platform, where students and industry persons interact to know the expectation of each other.
Mr. Kanhaiyya highlighted the importance of interpersonal skills, application of knowledge, time management and resource management in the growth of any industry. He also focused on the core issues such as technical skill, ability to analyze the real life problems, industry & its impact on the environment, etc.
After program, Mr. Kanhaiyya visited the campus specially T&P Cell, skill development center, MQC lab, automobile excellence center, 3D printer, Machining excellence center and Welding excellence center in mechanical engineering department. He appreciated the efforts of the department in bridging the industry institute gap.

Zeal Drag Race

On 30th March 2017 Zeal college of engineering and research narhe pune has inaugurated three day gokart racing event named as zeal drag. It was total technical car racing event in which 32 teams participated enthusiastically & near about 500 students from all over the India have taken part in the event. To this inaugural function MR. Satish Hirve Head Sourcing, Ashok Leyland was Chief Guest/ He addressed the gathering where he emphasized on the need to focus on practical knowledge.
After first qualifying round of virtuals, 32 teams were participated with indigenous manufactured vehicle from all over the India.
At 31st March 2017 the vehicles had undergone through various technical tests like Technical Inspection (TI), Design Inspection (DI), Braking Test etc. by various experts from industries like TCS, Precision Innovation students teams were critically evaluated based on their business planes and detail design requites as well.
At 1st April 2017 there was a main Drag racing event took place in that event Autocross and Skid pad tests were carried out and at the end of day valedictory function was conducted and prize distribution ceremony was presented.  In the prize distribution Dr. K. C Vora Head ARAI was the chief guest. During his speech he said India will be the third ranker in vehicle manufacturing hub and there will be 64 million vehicle users at 2030 so considering these figures we have to encourage such technical racing events. During the speech of Mr Jayesh katkar Executive director ZCOER announced the 2nd Season of Zeal Drag 2.0 the next year target and motivated students and also congratulated the winners.

Zeal Education Society believes in maintaining this legacy and taking it forward. With this mission Zeal Education Society had arranged GRADUATION CEREMONY for 2016 engineering batch.

The event was organized on 01.02.2017 at the campus. It is our legacy to have eminent educationalist on our campus for such ceremonies.

International Workshop on Advances in Mechanical Engineering (IWAME 2017)

Department of Mechanical Engineering from Zeal College of Engineering and Research organized 4 days International Workshop from 4th January 2017 to 7th January 2017.

Dr. Prof. P. K. Brahmankar (Head Mechanical, Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere) was the chif guest and prof. Jayesh Katkar, Executive Director, Zeal Education Sociert was the guest of honour.

During the inaugural function Dr. Prof. P. K. Brahmankar enlightened the participants with the upcoming research and innovative ideas being worked out in the research institutes and industries. Prof. Jayesh Katkar expressed his willingness to use this international platform for bridging the gap between recent practices in industry and academic curriculum.

Eminent Speakers, Dr. Dineshsingh Thakur (DIAT, Pune) delivered session on Micro Machining and Manufacturing. Dr. P. K. Brahmankar (BATU, Lonere) delivered a session on Advanced Composites. Dr. C. M. Sewatkar (COEP, Pune) delivered a session on Computational Fluid Dynamics. Dr. Dilip Alone (NAL, Banglore) delivered a session on Gas Turbine and Jet Propulsion. Dr. Abhijeet Digalwar (BITS, Palani) delivered a session on Sustainable Manufacturing. Dr. Srinivas Rao Pedapati (University of Petronas, Malaysia) delivered a session on Advances in Welding Technology. Dr Arun S Moharir (IIT, Bombay) delivered a session on Process Equipment Design and Piping Engineering. Dr. Ajay Chandak (PRINCE, Dhule) delivered a session on Renewable Energy.

During the workshop, it was felt like the advance happening in the field of mechanical engineering are being explored. The participants and students were benefitted by listening to the upcoming trends and expressed their willingness to explore these areas during their undergraduate, post graduate and Ph.D. research work.

Few case studies discussed by some speakers have benefited the participants by seeing the implementation results of innovative ideas. The workshop witnessed participation of PG students, Research Scholars, Faculties, Industry People and International Students.

During the 4 days of workshop Prof. Sachin Borade and Prof. Poonam Harakare coordinated all the sessions.

This was second International Workshop organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering ZCOER Pune it was well received by all the stake holders as a successful event.
